Peshawar Zalmi start PSL 2027 as the defending champions. They won PSL 2026 by beating Hyderabad Kingsmen in the final, their second title after 2017, and they return for HBL PSL 12 (18 March to 2 May 2027) with most of that winning squad still under contract.
Peshawar Zalmi in PSL 2026: The Title-Winning Season
Zalmi were the standout team of PSL 2026. They won 8 of their 10 league games, lost only one, and finished top with 17 points and a net run rate of +2.324, far ahead of everyone else. They then won the Qualifier to reach the final directly, and beat Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on 3 May 2026.
- Babar Azam scored 588 runs, the most of the season, equalling the PSL record for runs in one season.
- Sufiyan Muqeem took 22 wickets, the most of the season, and was named Player of the Tournament.
- Kusal Mendis scored his maiden PSL hundred and shared a record 191-run stand with Babar.
- Zalmi posted the highest total of the season, 255/3 against Quetta Gladiators, and the biggest win, by 159 runs against Karachi Kings.
Peshawar Zalmi Squad for PSL 2027
No official PSL 2027 squad has been announced. Players bought in 2026 signed two-year contracts, so the core of the title-winning side is expected to stay:
- Batters: Babar Azam, Mohammad Haris, James Vince, Abdul Samad, Iftikhar Ahmed
- Wicketkeeper: Kusal Mendis
- All-rounders: Michael Bracewell, Aaron Hardie, Aamir Jamal
- Bowlers: Sufiyan Muqeem, Ali Raza, Nahid Rana, Khalid Usman

Peshawar Zalmi Captain for PSL 2027
Babar Azam captained Zalmi to the 2026 title. The franchise has not announced its PSL 2027 captain yet, but after a record-equalling season with the bat and a trophy as leader, Babar is the obvious choice to continue.
Peshawar Zalmi PSL History
Owned by Javed Afridi, Zalmi have been one of the most consistent PSL teams. They won the title in 2017 and 2026, and were runners-up three times, in 2018, 2019 and 2021. Their home base is the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar, which has been lined up for PSL cricket but has not hosted a match yet.
What Peshawar Zalmi Need in PSL 2027
Zalmi do not need many changes. Their main job in the PSL 2027 auction is to keep the squad together and cover overseas players who may be busy with the IPL, which overlaps with PSL 2027. As defending champions they will also carry the pressure: only Lahore Qalandars have defended a PSL title so far.
